About Allegro Appraisal & Valuation
Brian Janey is the owner of Allegro Appraisal & Valuation and has been has been assisting clients to value and appraise pianos for over 20 years. He has completed appraisals for insurance coverage, damage and loss claims, market value, estate tax calculation and non-cash charitable contributions.
Brian is affiliated with the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and has completed the training required by the Internal Revenue Service to be a qualified appraiser.
Organizational Leadership & Instruction
Brian is a Registered Piano Technician and has served in leadership of the San Diego County Chapter of the PTG as the chapter president since 2019. He has provided technical education to piano technicians locally in classroom and shop settings and has been a reoccurring presenter at the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) national conventions and regional chapter meetings on the topic of piano valuation and appraisal.
Expertise and Professional Affiliations
His experience with pianos flows from 25 years of experience as a professional piano technician in Northern San Diego and Riverside Counties in California. He provides reoccurring service and consultation to a vast local clientele of recreational to high-level professional pianists, music teachers, school and college faculty, commercial venues, regular orchestral music series, festivals, and concert halls working in many instances directly with celebrity artists prior to performance.
He has applied himself to the trade of piano technology through reoccurring training provided by a wide variety of piano makers in the United States, Asia and Europe. He is affiliated with Piano Technicians Guild (PTG), Master Piano Technicians (MPT) and the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM).
